Story

I had a spinal tumour when I was a few months old leaving me
paralysed from the waist down. I’ve been lucky in that it hasn’t stopped me living an amazing and fulfilling life. However it isn’t always easy, and it certainly isn’t easy for those who become spinally injured and have to adjust to a whole new way of life.

Every year 2,500 people in the UK are affected by a spinal cord injury (SCI); that is one person every four hours who is permanently paralysed. Back Up is an incredible charity which inspires those affected by spinal cord injury to get the most out of life.

To find out more hear what Sam, aged 9, has to say about how
Back Up helped him in his darkest hours: https://www.facebook.com/bbcchildreninneed/videos/10155782443034876/?v=10155782443034876

I know I have a huge challenge ahead of me however the opportunity to run / wheel for a cause so close to my heart, raise money to help those affected by SCI, while ticking off a bucket list event is a challenge I am up for! It is also my way of sticking 2 fingers up to last year’s run in with breast cancer.

All sponsorship is hugely appreciated as will be any support
on the BIG day – 3rd October 2021.

With love, H xx
