We give hope for the future to young refugees and trafficking survivors

Story

Refugee Support Network provide educational mentoring and advice to some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our society. The charity works with young people who are in this country alone and who are living in the care of social services. Some of these young people were trafficked to the UK against their will, as slaves, cheap labour or to be abused. Others have fled persecution and conflict in their country of origin and have faced abuse, hardship and trauma on their journeys to the UK and after their arrival.

Many of these young people speak of education as the most positive thing in their life, because it enables them to focus on the future rather than the past. RSN therefore invests in education to send a clear message: that these young people have a future that is worth preparing for.

In the next few months I will be supporting the charity as a mentor on their higher education access mentoring scheme and by raising money. I am taking part in the Hellrunner 'Hell down South' event in January. This is almost half a marathon through lots and lots of mud and hills on a frosty January morning! Plus I will be baking mince pies for festive bake sales in between hill-sprints!

The money raised will be going towards funding a psychologist to help the most traumatised young people that RSN work with. Please donate generously and help me reach my £500 target.

Thank you for your support and any donation you can give!
