Story
Recently my mother was admitted to hospital after doctors arriving on our doorstep in the middle of the night to tell us that something was wrong. After running tests on samples of blood, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, meaning that there is cancer present in her bone marrow. Because of this, she is now going to be in isolation in hospital for around the next 2 months, and due to her condition and low amount of white blood cells, she is so vulnerable to viruses and infections that she is unable to leave a single room until she has completed her chemotherapy. The charity that I am raising money for, The Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund are providing things for her room and people in similar conditions to make them more comfortable in the time that they are enclosed in a single room, such as a comfortable reclining chair, access to Sky TV and an exercise bike. This along with the support of family and friends is a massive help to get patients through the difficult time in hospital.
To give her moral support and to raise awareness of the condition that she is in, I will be shaving my head so that my mother will not be alone when going through her chemotherapy. Any donations that you could give to the charity would be gratefully appreciated because of the help that it provides to Leukaemia sufferers like my mother.
