We support people with aphasia to enhance their lives and raise awareness

Story

We are running the Great North Run to raise money for the North East Trust for Aphasia (NETA): an amazing charity who provide support for people with aphasia and their families.

People with aphasia have difficulty using language, it can affect speaking, understanding, reading and writing. It is caused by damage to the brain such as stroke, head injury or progressive neurological conditions.

Being unable to communicate can impact every aspect of life; talking to friends and family, ordering a coffee or even browsing the internet can become impossible. NETA help people with aphasia to build their confidence and regain their independence.

Whilst training to be a Speech and Language Therapist I have had the opportunity to work with people who benefit massively from the long-term support NETA provide and have seen just how vital their work can be for people with aphasia.

Thanks so much for visiting our JustGiving page, we would be so grateful for any pennies you can spare to raise money for this fantastic charity!
