My brother Mark Kitchener suffered from kidney disease and then kidney failure 20 years ago. 18 years ago St Helier hospital and the renal unit saved him from all of the terrible sessions of dialysis by performing a kidney transplant. The transplanted kidney was given a life of 10 years but it actually lasted 18 years. Unfortunately Mark had a stroke in September and although he was starting to recover it was not to be and he sadly passed away on 18th November 2017. Mark always supported the South West Thames Kidney Fund as they are working towards a cure for kidney disease.
