Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page...

As many of you will know, I've been fighting (and mostly losing) the battle of the bulge since I turned 30.  Well, in 64 weeks time I turn 40 and I've decided that enough is enough and it's time to get serious about it.

I'm increasinly aware that my weight and lack of fitness are starting to affect my energy levels especially when playing with my kids, and they're only going to get more energetic.

I thought a bit of external motivation would help, hence doing this for charity, and for various reasons I've decided to choose Cancer Research.  I'll be putting money into this too - when I get tempted to buy some crisps or chocolate, I'll instead donate the money via this.  Every time I cycle to the station rather than drive, I'll put in some of the money that I've saved not paying for petrol and parking.

So, here are the embarrassing stats to show the magnitude of the problem:

My starting weight: 18st 1lb (target 14 stone, so 57lb to lose)

BMI: 31.8 (target 24)

Body fat: 32.1% (target 10%)

Waist at the widest point: 47 inches (target 32 inches) - this really shocked me!

Each week I'll update this so people can see progress, and perhaps add the obligatory set of "before and after" photos at the end.

Wish me luck!

Ian
