Story

Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page:-)

In October 2009 I ran the Great South Run and raised £150.00 for The Alzheimers Society.  After months of training, I am now running The London Marathon on April 25th 2010 and would like to raise at least another £300.00 for the society.  For this I need your help (well money actually) :-)

I have chosen to raise money for the Alzheimers Society having watched my mum change from an intelligent, independent woman to someone incapable of looking after herself.  It is one of the hardest things to watch someone you love change before your own eyes.

Alzheimers is a devastating illness that destroys the independence and capability of a person making them totally reliant on others for even basic needs such as washing and feeding.  The Alzheimers Society is committed to defeating dementia through research and the money that I and others raise will help in the search for the cause and ultimately a cure.  Alzheimers can affect any one of us and the more that is learnt about the illness the better equiped we will be in the future to prevent and cure it.

Dementia affects one in fourteen people over the age of 65 and 5 to 10% of these people will develop symptoms before the age of 65.

Donating through Just Giving is simple, fast and totally secure.  Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.  Once you donate they'll send your money directly to the charity and make sure that Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
