Story

I'm turning 40 this year and would love a birthday to remember!  So I am asking that rather than people give me a card or gift that you please donate to this charity which is extremely close to my heart.

Now it would be way to easy for me just to ask that you donate,  so to make it more challenging I have decided to run/walk 40km through the bush, "that will be easy for you" I hear you say!  Well for one, trail running is very different to road running, not only is it physically demanding, it is also mentally challenging and requires a fair amount of skill, wish me luck!  Thankfully, I have a trail running expert to point me in the right direction and keep me company along the way, so thank you Rochelle.

Secondly, I have decided NOT to train (other than the road running I do at the moment, max 15km) because, when my buddy was diagnosed with NBIA BPAN, she wasn't given any warning, nor preparation for what she would have to go through and so, to try and get some kind of concept of how hard it is to battle something without warning, I will just tackle what the bush has to throw at me on Tuesday, 5 November!

A little bit about Dylan's disease: Dylan has BPAN a variation of NBIA (Neuro-degenerative with Brain Iron Accumulation), which is an extremely rare degenerative and life threatening disease with no current treatment or cure.  She is impacted by this disease greatly and continues to suffer from seizures, severe developmental delays, intellectual disability and difficulty communicating.  Others like her have entered into a second phase of rapid neurological deterioration characterised by Parkinsonism and dementia in their teens, and their lives have been shortened as a result.

There are researchers around the globe working to understand this horrible disease with the hope of identifying possible treatment and finding a cure.  BUT, they need our help!  By donating you can help raise the money we need to make critical progress.  Remember, RESEARCH = HOPE!

Thank you so much in advance, both me and Dylan are truly grateful for any amount you can space, every cent counts :o)
