Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My darling little girl, Isabelle Rachel Molloy passed away on 10th August at the age of 2 years and 3 months.

As most of you will know, Isabelle had a very difficult life starting from birth when her mummy and my wife and best friend, Rachel Molloy, passed away from a very rare complication of pregnacy.

Rachel was full term with Isabelle but before she could give birth, she collapsed at the entrance of Wythenshawe Hospital having suffered a ruptured splenic artery aneurysm. Isabelle was delivered by caesarean section on 24th April 2019 but due to the trauma of birth she suffered significant brain damage.

Following her birth, Isabelle spent 3 months in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester before being discharged to live at home with me and her big brother James.

Whilst Isabelle was at home she showed some small but promising signs of development (albeit significantly delayed) but unfortunately after 5 months of living at home she suffering a cardiac arrest on New Years Eve 2019. With the help of a team of paramedics I managed to revive Isabelle and restart her heart but she suffered "catastrophic" brain damage as a result of the incident and was rushed to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

Isabelle never returned home after New Years Eve as her condition and health needs following the incident were too great. She spent a siginificant time in hospital before being transferred to Derian House Childrens Hospice on a 3 month residential placement which partly due to Covid ended up being around 8 months.

Isabelle's time at Derian House was (in the main) a very settled period for her and the staff looked after her like one of their own. She had daily trips into their gardens and sensory room, she enjoyed spending time in their hydrotherapy pool and they carried out a significant amount of memory making and messy play.

Unfortunately Isabelle couldn't stay with Derian for the long term and had already overstayed her 3 month placement and so was transferred to Courtyard Care in February 2021 which was to become her forever home where she lived with 5 ther complex needs children and became part of the courtyard family.

In early August 2021 Isabelle contracted the RSV virus which gave her a chest infection. Despite having battled through numerous chest infections throughout her short life (including Covid), this infection proved to be one infection too far. She was transferred to Derian House for end of life care and passed away in my arms on 10th August 2021.

Derian is an incredible charity whose staff work tirelessly to help families make memories and to create a calm and comfortable environment for children who need either respite or end of life care. Its hard to put into words how very special Derian House is and how grateful I am to everyone there for everything they have done for both Isabelle and the family.

Isabelle's funeral will be a small and intimate one for close family and friends. We would ask that only close family provide flowers. All those who wish may instead donate on this page to Derian House Children's Hospice. There will also be a collection on the day for those who wish to donate in person.
