Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
IT'S DONE! THANK GOD THAT'S OVER!
Between June 12th and June 20th, I took on the challenge of cycling 1,014 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End, which over 9 days averages out at around 113 miles per day. This challenge was a lot tougher than I had expected, not because of the actual distance to be cycled...more because of the emotional aspects of the challenge, particularly as my body started to fall apart. Anyway, I made it. And I made it mainly because a) I had been training for 9 months and wanted to succeed; b) I took great encouragement from the exhortations of friends received during the ride, principally through Facebook; and c) I knew that friends, relatives and colleagues had made such generous donations to Naomi House both before and during the ride.
I'd been using this trip to raise money for Naomi House, a children's hospice in Hampshire that offers respite care to sick children with life-limiting illnesses, and their families. I visited the hospice last year to have a look around and meet the people behind the charity. They made a great impression on me - this charity makes a big difference to the lives of life-limited children and their families.
Each year Naomi House has to raise almost all of its running costs through charitable donations - only 7% of its funding comes from government sources. You can find out more about Naomi House at its website: http://www.naomihouse.org.uk/home/.
Although the ride is now completed, you can still donate to Naomi House. So, if you haven't yet, please give it some serious thought. I know that money is tight, however if you can spare something, that would be fantastic. It really is a very worthwhile cause. Thank You
