Story
Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I really would appreciate any donation you can make because this charity event will bring such a lot of help and support to so many people both here and in the USA, including children's foundations, burns and rehabilitation centres, whilst paying tribute to the sacrifice made by Stephen Siller and fellow firefighters who lost their lives, or were injured on 9.11.
On September 11th, 2001, Stephen Siller and 342 of FDNY brothers perished when the towers collapsed.
Stephen had just finished work and had planned to play golf with his brothers. When he heard on his scanner of the tragedy at the World Trade Centre, he turned his truck around and went back to his Firehouse to get his gear. He then headed towards Ground Zero as the rest of the world was frantically heading away from the site. When his truck was prohibited from entering the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, he left his vehicle and raced on foot to the site with his gear strapped to his back. Stephen was one of many brave firefighters, police and EMS workers that performed their duty that day and risked all to save others.
This is the seventh year of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run. During this run I and up to 50 fellow UK FireFighters will be tracing the path that Stephen took that fateful day.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you for helping to support me in this fund raising event, the Tunnel to Tower race is a testament to the best of human spirit displayed by Stephen and the 342 other first responders who gave their life trying to save others.
Regards,
Jon
