Story
Can you imagine not being able to see or hear? It's a frightening reality over 400,000 people in the UK face every day! I'm running the London Marathon in April to raise money for Deafblind charity so they can offer care, support and new technologies to help people who have lost their sight and hearing.
Even shutting your eyes and ears for just 5 minutes gives you a sense of the challenges people face. Imagine trying to go shopping or cook dinner, the world would be a very scary place!
Working around technology, I've seen glimpses of the profound impact these innovations could have on someone's quality of life who suffers from deafblindness and other disabilities. But, such innovation requires significant investment and in the short term, the care and support Deadblind offers every day through its centres is key in helping people suffering from loss of sight and hearing.
So, I'm going to put myself through a brutal training regime and will push my body to its absolute limit in London in aid of Deafblind. Bring on the tears!
We're not a competitive family but I'm trying to beat my Dad's best marathon time of 3 hours 17 minutes!
For every donation, you can guess my finishing time to the nearest second for your chance to win two Club Wembley tickets to the England vs Nigeria on 2nd June and a bottle of champagne!
(For guesses that are the same - the later entries will be adjusted to +1 second)
