Story

Because I am stupid, I am going to swim to the Isle of Wight across the Solent on July 21st in aid of the Isle of Wight Samaritans. The distance is a mile and a quarter and i'm told the tides are really strong and the water is very cold. Great!!
I'm setting out from Hurst Castle on the mainland at 5.45 am and hope to get to Colwell Bay on the Island under an hour later if I don't die. As an added pressure, am told that most of the other swimmers don't wear a wetsuit so I've decided that if I make my target, I will do the swim in a small pair of speedos. Luckily for me and you, the swim is not filmed and you'll never have to see that sight!!
Also, does anyone know if there are Jellyfish in the Solent as I have a phobia. i also need to avoid drinking any floating sewage.
Please sponsor me as I've just talked myself out of it and have had to sponsor myself so I'm not allowed to quit!
Thanks,
James

Isle of Wight Samaritans desperately needs funds as they are growing fast and have increased the number of volunteers taking calls and their opening hours. The Swim is their major fund raising event of the year. Last year they had 24 swimmers and raised £16,500. This year they hope to raise even more, so please help.

Donating through JustGiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me. The Isle Of Wight Samaritans get your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, JustGiving sorts out the Gift Aid. So do sponsor me NOW! Many thanks.
