Story
I am taking part in the Portland College Charity Cup at the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster in May. The event brings together sport and fundraising and I have committed to playing in the match and will be donating the entrance fee myself. Think it will also be the last real football outing before the plastic knee is fitted......
Any money I raise will go towards the College's fundraising drive towards a new Inclusive Sports Academy that will offer access to expert coaching and a curriculum centred around sports. The target for our fundraising is £2 million and the Charity Cup represents one of the first key events aimed at generating funds to enable the facility to be built.
The Academy will enable students to develop their skills in a core of disability sports (as well as accessing many others through enrichment sessions) whilst also working on key skills in personal and social development. The facility will also allow students to work towards a wide range of vocational qualifications in Sport that will allow them to potentially move into further or higher education or employment.
Any money you can donate is greatly received, even if it’s only pocket change! I promise to train hard and update everyone as we get close to the event and beyond. If anyone would also like to attend the match, tickets are now on sale. Call 01623 499141to purchase yours at the bargain price of just £2.00 per ticket.
