Story

Hi everyone,

Firstly thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Me and a good friend Steve will be cycling the London to Brighton in September (fingers crossed 🤞🏻) to raise money for Genetics Allaince UK. This charity does amazing work for people who have very rare diseases weather it be support for the families that are affected or new research into these diseases. Two years ago my daughter was diagnosed with a the rare PTEN gene mutation after genetic testing at Great Ormand Street Hospital. The PTEN gene regulates the body cells and unfourtunalty for Daisy, because of the mutation, her body will be unable to do this. What this means for her, as she approaches her teenage years, is the high Increased risk for certain types of cancer, breast and thyroid being the main two. As you can imagine this came as a real shock to me and Sarah, not only because we had never heard of it before but we have both been genetically tested after Daisy was diagnosed and neither of us carry the gene. If myself and Steve can raise some money towards this cause for not only our special Daisy but other people that have rare diseases or conditions. For anyone that donates it really does mean the world, thanks again for taking the time out to visit my page ❤.
