I've decided to run the half marathon in May this year and I've been wanting to do something like this for a while now, so after a drunken agreement, here goes! Not only do I want to do this to show myself and others that anyone of any size can do this, but I also want to help spread awareness and make people acknowledge the importance of helping the many people of this world that are plagued with mental illnesses.

Health in Mind is an Edinburgh-based charity which seeks to promote positive mental health and well being across the whole of Scotland. They offer an extensive range of services, from counselling and trauma support, through befriending and community connecting, to their dedicated Information Resource Centre.

Mental Illnesses have only just became apparent and accepted in society over the past 30 years and there are still so many out there that aren't regarded as a 'mental illness'. Knowing how apparent it is in today's society means that promoting positive mental health is very important and I, as well as Health in Mind, want people to know that they are not alone, and that they have people out there that can help fight whatever they're going through. We are the ones that have the power to help those in need - so why don't we do it? 

Donating to this page will help further the cause of aid to people struggling to cope with these debilitating mental health problems and will continue to help raise awareness of the many diseases out there that have not yet been identified as a 'mental illness'. In order to run in the meadows marathon festival I have to raise £250 but anything will help. Thanks.
