Story
As some of you are aware we are planning on trekking to Everest base Camp on 3rd November 2018. There are many who have Trekked EBC before us and many who will follow in our footsteps; but for us we want this trek and time on our legs to carry value and make a difference to the lives of others and what better way to do this than raise money for two worthwhile and extraordinary charities.
The first charity is the Dzi foundation, the link at the top of this fundraising page shows the outstanding work this charity does for the remote and poor communities of Nepal.
Their achievements are immense and include constructing 18 new schools and reconstructing 9 damaged in the horrific earthquake of 2015, building 20 water systems, irrigating 212 acres of farm land, building two health posts, constructing 3000 sanitary toilets. This charity works with 85 settlements and 32,000 residents and commits their support to these communities for 9 years to enable continued and sustained development.
The second charity is for the charitable work of a Nepalese Lady called Tashi who currently sponsors 28 children through schooling. Most of these children are orphans or have escaped abuse. The two eldest children she has supported are now medics working in Kathmandu. Tashi’s work gives these children an education and a means to employment and becoming self-sufficient. I have attached photo’s of some of the children Tashi has sponsored. We will be meeting with Tashi on our trek to personally see the good work she is doing. Also, Tashi has been invited to Buckingham Palace in recognition of all the good work her and her husband do.
We have self-funded our EBC trek which means that all of the money we raise will go to these charities.
We thank you for your support to raise money for these two very special charities and to making a difference to so many Nepalese children and communities.
