Story
Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 22 May my friend Jo and I will be raising money for Breast Cancer Care by participating in the Blenheim Palace & Cotswolds Pink Ribbonwalk and we would really appreciate your support.
The event starts in the magnificent grounds of Blenheim Palace. A World Heritage Site, this 18th century Baroque Palace is the home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
From our start point we walk over Bladon Bridge and along the River Glyme through oak-lined paths to Combe Gate. We then pass the lovely village of Combe, joining sections of the Wychwood Way - the ancient woodland being a protected environment for native wildlife - before passing various historic landmarks, including Roman remains, and the villages of East End of North Leigh.
Our homeward journey takes us along the Oxfordshire Way - parts of which follow the course of an ancient Roman road - before taking us back through the grounds of Blenheim Palace, passing the Column of Victory and across the Grand Bridge.
This is a personal challenge for both Jo and I as neither of us have ever undertaken an event like this before and we wanted Breast Cancer Care to benefit from our efforts.
Some 46,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. Breast Cancer Care provide information, support and campaign for improved standards of care. Their services are free and delivered across the UK to anyone affected by breast cancer.
