South Africa Tour in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children 15th to 30th August 2010

I am pleased to be taking part in a 16-day adventure from “Africa’s Fairest Cape” (Cape Town) to the “Smoke That Thunders” (Victoria Falls) on a BMW 1200 GS Motorcycle. A 5000km journey that will take me through some of the world’s most beautiful scenery through South Africa and Namibia and riding some of the best tracks. It will also allow me the opportunity to meet some of the local people giving me the chance to get some insight into the country and their culture.

For the journey, I will be joining forces with Charley Boorman, the well known motorbike adventurer whom some of you will know from his adventures travelling the world with Ewan McGregor, and Ross Noble the gordie comedian.

As well as being a fantastic opportunity for me, I will be using this adventure to raise money for ‘Demelza Hospice Care for Children’ in the hope of raising a minimum of £35k to cover the cost to Demelza of employing one nurse for one year. Demelza is the only children’s residential hospice covering Kent, East Sussex and South East London.  They currently receive very little Government funding and rely heavily on fundraising, therefore support from the general community and business community is essential in helping to run the services.

Demelza not only provides vital care and support to over 600 children and young adults with life-limiting illnesses but also vital support to their families through what can be very difficult and emotional times.  For more information on Demelza and the fantastic support they provide, please see www.demelza.org.uk

This journey has given me a one-chance opportunity to raise money for a valuable service and as I may not have this opportunity again, I would like to raise as much as possible to help this cause. Through this letter, I would like to ask you to help me raise my target of £35k (hopefully more) and to support Demelza by making a donation. Myself and all the staff at Demelza will appreciate your contribution, whatever the amount. Any monies donated will go solely and directly to Demelza Hospice Care for Children and will not contribute to the cost of the trip.

If you would like to make a donation; for individuals, donating through the JustGiving website at www.justgiving.com/Jayson-Stickings will allow you to claim Gift Aid, this amount is where the JustGiving website will take their fee from. If you don’t claim the Gift Aid, their fee will come from the donation made, so please make sure that you put in for Gift Aid when donating. Businesses cannot claim Gift Aid and should donate direct to Demelza by sending a cheque made out to Demelza Hospice Care for Children, stating ‘Jayson Stickings South Africa Tour’ direct to their offices or to The Generator Company and we will forward it on.

Please don’t feel obliged to make a donation, but if you could forward this letter on to others that would I would very much appreciate it.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
