After four long days on the saddle, 371miles (498kms) we finally arrived in Paris. Surprisingly no chaffing issues and am not walking like John Wayne. In fact everyone was on such a high, we could have carried on going!
Thanxs again for all the donations. Have raised the monies through this site as well as over £800 through Airbus.
Latest update to my training 29-06-10:~ Have swallowed nearly ten bugs, I have completed over 1500kms and ready for the start this Saturday. You wont believe this but I will be having a banana and an isotonic drink on my birthday this Thursday! I greatly appreciate all the kind donations so far. (Have raised over £700 pounds through Airbus for the Avon Air Ambulance as well)
Cheers Jeff
Dear Friends & Family,
At the end of last year, a close friend from my school days died after a long battle with cancer. She was 37. This sad departure was my inspiration to get out there and 'do my bit' and it was not a difficult decision to sign up for the Clifton College charity cycle ride from Bristol to Paris.
Considering myself a fairly fit park footballer, I set about the task of training, though without much consideration for the difficulty of the task ahead or in fact the pain! Putting in 700kms so far, I’ve fallen off five times (not used to the click-on pedals), swallowed numerous bugs and suffered unimaginable saddle soreness!
In honour of our friend's memory, I have decided to ride for Marie Curie Cancer Care a charity whose unwavering commitment and attentive care I whole-heartedly admire and support.
I know these are financially tight times for everyone, but I appreciate any support you are able to give. I will keep you posted on my training progress and the final 500kms ride to Paris at the beginning of July.
With thanks and regards
