I am in constant amazement of one of my residents in Podsmead, Jeanette who has Multiple Sclerosis. This is a lady that inspires me and never ceases to amaze me. Jeanette never lets her disability prevent her from doing so much for our community and for charity.

Most days I see her walking to the bus stop to catch the bus to her volunteer position at a charity shop. In all weathers and even on her shaky days, Jeanette gives up her time for the sake of others. If I ask her for help at a fete or a coffee morning, then she is there.

I am humbled by her attitude to life and as a complete believer in the Big Society, I would people to know about the amazing people we have in our communities who are actively making lives better, whatever their circumstances, without funding. 

Please sponsor me for this organised event to help raise funds for the Gloucestershire Multiple Sclerosis Centre who are completely reliant on donations and fund-raising events. They receive no NHS funding but are vital for sufferers like Jeanette. I have often wanting to give something back to Jeanette, but did not know how! I saw this event advertised and although nervous at the prospect of speeding round a track, it was definitely a way I could give something back that means something to her.
