I am climbing in September to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. Alzheimer's (a type of Dementia) is a crippling disease that puts enormous pressure on the individual, loved ones and carers. If we are lucky enough to make it to 95 then one third of us will have dementia but we will only be a small number of the many sufferers. It is estimated 1 million people in the will suffer from it by 2025.

Dementia has affected my family directly with my Gran who battled a range of symptoms for several years.  I know my experience is only one of a many, and several of my friends are currently watching family members struggle to cope with day to day life. It is for all these reasons that I am climbing .
