My kind brother calls me one day and instructs me to sign up to the Reading Half Marathon with him and his friends. 'Ok' I say, and instantly sign up.

Three months later, I have barely done any exercise, instead opting for lounging on the Australian beaches. So here I am 8 1/2 weeks until the big day. The training has started mixed in with some killer jet lag. When I applied I said I'd do it in about 2 1/2 hours, which is going to be hard after so long without much running!
