Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. So actually I am taking two trips to Tanzania this year:
The first trip involves me playing in a tag rugby (ahem!) tournament in Dar Es Salaam. For some reason my workmates thought I would be up for this...not sure if that is because I am relatively fit or because I have the physique of a rugby player...
As well as participating in the tournament, we will lead coaching sessions in local schools and leave behind clothing and equipment as a donation to the school children. The purpose of the trip is threefold:- 1. to support the work that Tribal already does in Tanzania, and especially in Dar Es Salaam
- 2. to provide coaching expertise to junior rugby players in schools in Dar and to adult players at the Dar Leopards club 3. to develop links between Tribal staff in the UK and in Tanzania with the aim of leading to future fundraising tours and donations of kit and equipment via the Foundation
The second trip is going to be physically tougher (although with less bruises hopefully) with a trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro at the end of September. Rising 19,340 feet above sea level, Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and the world’s highest free-standing mountain. Not looking forward to the potential altitude sickness or the high risk of going all that way and not making it to the summit so....need to have raised plenty of money for charity to make it all worth it!
The rugby trip takes place 18-22 February and the Kilimanjaro trek is later in the year at the end of September (dates tbc).
