We help blind and partially sighted people to break down the barriers of sight loss

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking part in the inaugural Brighton Marathon on 18 April. I know Eddie Izzard ran 43 marathons in 50 days but I still think 26.2 miles in one day is quite a long way, and quite an achievement. I have been training for several months, through the snow and cold and rain - and now I want you to sponsor me.

I have chosen to run for the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) for several reasons. Many years ago I worked as the Research Manager for their Talking Books department, and saw how the charity helps so many blind and visually impaired people, in so many ways. My mother-in-law (in photo, with me) was registered blind and I appreciate the problems one faces completing even the simplest of tasks, if you can’t see. But the main reason is that every day, almost 100 people in the UK will start to lose their sight. RNIB are helping people who have lost their sight find their life again.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

About the charity

Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.
