We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

Our dad, Norman Glass, died last year from prostate cancer. We wanted to do something in his honour and raise money for prostate cancer research. We settled on running a marathon, but then remembered that we had inherited dad's sporting genes, so we decided to split the work between us.

We've therefore decided to run the Great North Run, a half-marathon in Newcastle - the city where dad first taught economics, and where mum and dad got married.

Prostate cancer has had a devastating effect on our family - taking our dad and our uncle. It is the most common form of cancer among men, and the second biggest killer (after lung cancer). Although only men can get it, it affects everyone, as we can attest.

So please give generously to help fund research, information, and support for sufferers and their families. And remember what dad claimed was the Glass family motto "I would rather be a Glass than a mug".
