Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As many of you will know, our brother Sam contracted a particularly aggressive strain of bacterial meningitis in September of last year and has since been in intensive care at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neuroscience. The NHNN performed emergency surgery on Sam, saving his life. The damage done was not immediately reversible and currently Sam, whilst every day making great progress, is paralysed from the neck down. Sam has been in the care of NHNN for some 3 months now and whilst Sam's stoicism, determination and strength of character have undoubtedly contributed to his progress so far, the NHNN have been truly wonderful caring for Sam, always going the extra mile for him. We want to give something back. Whilst we are scared out of our wits about running a marathon, compared to the challenges Sam faces it should be a doddle! We have never felt more strongly about a cause. Sam , prior to his illness, was a keen runner and in training to go to Sandhurst, running a marathon for his hospital therefore seems fitting. Please dig deep and donate generously.
