Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As a family we try to be as self sufficient as possible. We have the good fortune to have enough space to be able to keep hens and grow a selection of fruit and vegetables. However for us this is all just a lifestyle choice and we can afford many luxuries. For many families in Africa keeping livestock literally makes a difference between life and death. Send a Cow provides a long term solution by providing not just the livestock but also training and ongoing support. It also employs the pass on principle, in that every family who receives help will pass on livestock, seeds or training to another family.
We have supported Send a Cow on a small scale for many years. However four years ago we organised a hog roast, using one of our home reared pigs, and invited friends and family. Due to the amazing generosity of everyone we exceeded our target of £750 ( a cow) and raised £1000, before gift aid.
We ran a second hog roast in 2013 then had a couple of years off. Due to popular demand we are repeating the experience this year. We no longer have our own pigs but a friend has kindly offered one of his home reared pigs- thank you Rob Warnock of Bankhead Farm. We aren't asking any entrance fee but just a donation. Donate now and then on the day you only need bring along a bit of cash for the raffle, tombola and yummy home produce. Even if you can't make it any donations of cash (on this site) and/or raffle or tombola prizes.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Thanks again.
