In August 2008 our daughter, Alexa, was born with a cleft palate.  She was cared for by the excellent staff at Alder Hey Hospital and Warrington Hospital's neonatal care unit.   In May 2009, she received surgery to correct the palate.  Alexa is now a very happy almost 2 year old making all the usual demands of her parents that she should do, "More yoghurt Mummy!"

We were extremely fortunate to receive her care through the NHS and the army of staff that have helped her with immediate care, surgery, recovery and speech development.  CLEFT is a charity that aims to answer what could be done to improve care not only for cleft patients in the UK but also helping cleft patients in those areas of the world where they are not so fortunate to have access to specialist cleft teams.
