Story

Almost five years ago we welcomed our little boy Sam into the world. Sam was born with a profound hearing loss. At the age of one, he was implanted with cochlear implants. Sam began attending The Elizabeth Foundation around the age of two and a half, at a time when his speech wasn't developing as we had hoped. Two years on and Sam is a happy, confident, and very chatty little boy. Sam graduates in July to go to main-stream school in September, having achieved age appropriate speech - on a par with hearing children of his age.The Elizabeth Foundation has been a life line of support to us, as parents, and given Sam an outstanding educational and fun start to his early life. The Elizabeth Foundation is not government funded and, as such, Andy and I would like to raise funds to say thank you for all that they have done for us and for other children.

Thank you all so very much,

Jo, Andy and Sam

About the charity

The Elizabeth Foundation is a Family Centre with baby, toddler and pre-school sessions for deaf children and their families. We follow the 'Multi Sensory Oral Approach', to develop speech, language and listening skills by using all of the child's senses in a natural, fun, child-centred environment.
