Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
Story
Hi there and thanks for taking time to visit my fundraising page!
In the last 12 months, I have lost a friend to cancer and I also have friends living with cancer today. I have therefore chosen to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support this year.
Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. One in three of us will get cancer. We are all affected by cancer. We can all help. As treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. This means they need more than medical help, they also need practical, emotional and financial support. Macmillan relies on supporters for 99% of their income. Without such support they couldn't provide any of their services for people living with cancer.
In return for your sponsorship, I will be tackling 2 sporting events in memory of Nicky McLay:
* On Sunday 6th June, I will run the 5km Race For Life in Milton Keynes together with a number of friends from Wingrave (including Nicky's daughter Lauren).
* Then on Sunday 4th July, I will be taking part in the 2010 Ride to the Horns (Stag Race). Brainchild of F1 driver Mark Webber, this is a 50 mile cycle race around the Chiltern hills taking in the best climbs in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire. 50 miles is quite some distance for me to cover in one day - so I am hoping that I make it back to the finish before night fall!
