We fund dementia research to help defeat dementia.

Story

One person is diagnosed with dementia every 3 seconds, and it is estimated that there will be more than 130 million people living with dementia by 2030. Yet less than one percent of what this country spends on coping with dementia goes on the research needed to overcome this growing problem.

Although we are learning to live better with dementia, it is important we find answers through medical science; ways to improve the quality of life for all living with dementia and to prevent others developing the condition in future.

John was diagnosed with vascular dementia 6 years ago and it was difficult for all the family to come to terms with.  He was cared for at home by his wife of 64yrs, Elaine, and the family walked alongside them and supported him with love, humour and compassion. Nevertheless, this cruel illness took its toll on us all, in particular John. We support BRACE in the knowledge that research will assist sufferers and carers of those with dementia in the future.

BRACE funds world class research at the universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Plymouth and Swansea. It awards grants to university based researchers which includes laboratory scientists as well as clinicians and others engaged with clinical research.

BRACE depends completely on voluntary donations and fund raising.

No matter how little you can give, it all goes towards making a real difference and pushing us ever closer to the aim of defeating dementia.

In memory of John. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many.
