Story

YOU, US & A MONKEY

A fast growing number of us are doing something hugely important in August and we'd like you to get involved.

For 5 days, from Wednesday August 4 to Sunday August 8, we are walking to raise a huge amount money for one of the most important organizations in the world.

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

The people and the place are quite simply amazing.
Their work could not be more worthwhile.

Great Ormond Street Hospital are on a mission to raise over £10M to build a new Renal unit.

We want to help them as much as we can because nothing is more important than the health and welfare of our children.
Nothing.

The reason we're walking over 75 miles in 5 days is to prove just how seriously we are.

We're putting ourselves out and we want you to put yourselves out!

First we want you to sponsor us.
We appreciate every pound we're given.
We urge you to give as much as you can.
Please be as generous as possible.
No cause is more deserving.
NB We are paying our own expenses so ALL the money raised will go to the hospital.

Second we want you to walk with us.
This walk will be a lot of fun.
Every day more people are committing to coming.
Where possible we're following pedestrian coastal paths so there's very few cars for walkers to contend with.
Adults, kids and pets are all welcome.
If you can't do 5 days do please do one or two.
If you can't do a whole day then please half a day or a few hours.

Third, if you come we want you to get yourself sponsored.
Explain what you're doing (and how important it is) to your family and friends.
Ask them to sponsor you, then ask them to join the walk with you.
If they come and they get sponsored too we'll raise even more money and that's what this is all about.
Raising money.

In order to set up your own fundraising page, go onto http://www.justgiving.co.uk/greatormondstreet/raisemoney. Then click on Make Your Page and choose to either Log in (if you already have a Justgiving account) or Create an Account. You then select An Organised Event and scroll down to "You, us and a Monkey".
This will be the umbrella name for everyone's individual pages.

Think of it as a pyramid.
Sponsoring and inviting people who sponsor and invite people who sponsor and invite people.

We're expecting a few famous faces to join us and as we get closer to the dates, we'll give exact details of start points and finish points so keep an eye on this page and our Facebook page.

Here's where we're be going.
It's around the coast of Kent.
We've chosen this route because the walks are easy to get to and the surroundings are stunning.
Kent is The Garden of England after all!
We're expecting a lot of people so we need to make sure there's plenty of space.

Day 1 : Wednesday August 4
Faversham to Herne Bay (11 miles)

Day 2: Thursday August 5
Herne Bay to Ramsgate (19 miles)

Day 3: Friday August 6
Ramsgate to Dover (20 miles)

Day 4: Saturday August 7
Dover to Dymchurch (16 miles)

Day 5: Sunday August 8
Dymchurch to Dungeness (10 miles)

Don't think of YOU, US & A MONKEY as our walk.
Once you're involved think of it as YOUR walk.

BTW Monkey is the name of the walk's mascot.
He's a gorgeous, cuddly chocolate brown labradoodle who'll be with us a lot of the way.

Thank you for reading this.
We hope you sponsor us,join us and get others to walk and get sponsored.

No cause is more worthwhile than Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

They can't operate without us.
