Story

We've reached our target of £3000.00!! Our sincere thanks to everyone for your kindness and generosity!! We are so thankful for every donation! We set the target at 1500.00 as this is an average cost for just one mission. This was raised which covered the mission for John and now we might have saved more lives and perhaps a family a lifetime of grief.
My Heartfelt Thanks. David (John's Dad) and family

..here's what happened. On Saturday 4 June around 7.30pm our son, John, was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident while out for a ride in South Wales. Many people tried to keep him alive but there was nothing to be done. As John's family and friends, we've been amazed at the response from others and are very grateful.

The Wales Air Ambulance service was at the scene in just a few minutes. Tragically there was nothing they could do this time.

Wales is a popular destination for motorcyclists because of the scenic roads and it has grown to become one of the busiest air ambulance operations in the UK. The service responds to roughly 2000 missions every year, approximately 30% of which are road traffic collisions. Around 80 incidents every year involve motorcyclists.

As a registered charity the service is wholly dependent on public donations, and does not receive any support from the national lottery or the government. Each mission costs approximately £1,500. The cost of running the service across Wales is over £6 million per year.

To remember John, we'd like to ask for donations to the Wales Air Ambulance service who are providing a such a vital service.

Here are a few more amazing facts about Wales Air Ambulance service:

- The aircraft can travel at 150mph – over 2 miles per minute – and can reach anywhere in Wales within 20 minutes.
