Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Saturday 9th September is the annual sponsored cycle ride and stride in aid of the Hampshire & The Islands Historic Churches Trust.
This year, there are 29 participant churches in the Havant Area (which corresponds to the Anglican Havant Deanery), and we plan, between us, to visit all of them.
Jackie accompanied by border collie Bertram will CaniX ( i.e. stride and run) a distance of approximately 11 miles round the Hayling Island churches (St Peter's Northney, St Andrew's Eastoke, St Mary's).
John will cycle approximately 41 miles round the
remaining 26 mainland churches (Chalton, Idsworth, Rowlands Castle, Leigh Park, Emsworth, Havant, Farlington, Purbrook, Denmead, Waterlooville, Cowplain, Catherington, Clanfield, Blendworth etc)
Of the money raised, half goes to the Trust (which makes grants towards the upkeep of historic church buildings in Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Channel Islands. See www.hihct.org.uk). The other half goes to the church nominated by the participants. This will be Idsworth, St Hubert.
Idsworth has been among the leading fundraisers for the Ride and Stride for many years, and we are anxious to maintain this record, especially as the Trust has approved a grant for St Hubert’s!
We are fundraising for work involving huge expenditure over the next few years and HIHCT are supporting. Please help maintain this priceless historic building, which is open to all daily, for future generations.

CORRIGENDUM
John’s plans for the day have regrettably had to been modified.
Following surgery to his left hand last week, his surgeon has proscribed cycling to avoid risk to two hours delicate work. One handed driving is not a sensible option. 40+ miles on foot is not practicable in the time available, so unfortunately he has had to curtail his itinerary.
John now plans to take the train to Bedhampton, stride to Emsworth visiting the 9 Bedhampton, Havant, Warblington, Emsworth churches; then train back to Rowlands Castle via Havant, and stride to St Huberts, Idsworth.
Total 10 churches and estimated 11.5 miles striding.
Jackie's plans to visit the 3 Hayling Island churches on foot remain unchanged.
