Story
Thanks for visiting my Windsurfing4CancerResearch (W4CR) JustGiving
page.
W4CR, a charity formed by windsurfers, aims to promote
awareness of all aspects of cancer amongst the windsurfing community and
raise money for cancer research, education and support.
Sunrise Sunset 2010 is

20 UK locations. Your generous support in sponsoring me will help W4CR
reach its target of £50,000 for distribution to worthy cancer
beneficiaries.
On May 2nd, I will challenging myself to sail from sunrise to sunset @ Halifax sailing club with as many fellow windsurfers as possible.

Im also doing this in memory of Tony Cowley.
Tony left yorkshire in 2007 to return to his native New Zealand and
retire.
If you ever met him you will already know he was windsurfing crazy. He
would have spent every day at the lake if only the damn wind would turn
up!
He was also a good friend and a true inspiration to so many of us. The
last
time I sailed with him was not at the lake though - I was lucky enough
to
sail with him once more, on Lake Garda, Italy the day before my wedding
in
September 2008! At the time, I expected it to be a while before we
sailed
again together - but what nobody knew was Tony's time left with us was
less
than 12 months as he passed away from cancer in July 2009.
On a personal note it has taken me a long time to come to terms with
this
and I've really struggled to motivate my self to get back in my wetsuit
and
on my board. However, it has made me realise why causes such as W4CR are
so
important, we need to do what we can, whilst we can, to try and educate
people how to
recognise the threats, and we need to support the charities that conduct
vital research
into its causes and treatments.
