We raise funds to help organ transplants to help rehabilitation and improve lives

Story

About this time 30 years ago Maria’s life was ebbing away. She needed a heart & lung transplant to save her life.

She was preparing to die but at the same time, along with John, her wonderful family and an amazing group of loyal friends, we did everything we could to keep Maria alive so that if a transplant happened, she would be ready.

Then on 16th October 1991, against all the odds, The call came.
500 miles away a young man's life was slipping away. Everything possible had been done to try and save his life and now his extraordinary wife and family had offered his organs to save the lives of others.

In their hour of greatest pain and despair, they had reached out to others.  They gave the greatest gift anyone could give to someone they didn't even know, and we will be eternally grateful for these extra thirty years.

To mark this occasion, we want to help others and have chosen a small charity we know and love: The Harefield Transplant club.

About the charity

The charity is run by volunteers most of who have received a heart and/or lung transplant. We help transplants in recreation and sporting activities in order to further their rehabilitation and maximise the gift of life. We hope this will increase the number of people willing to donate their organs.
