We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Thank you for visiting this page, created by Westbourne Running Club and staff of LV= on behalf of our friend, John Cherry, who passed away recently after an 18 month battle with cancer.

John joined WRC in 2012 and immediately became a popular member of our Tuesday night club runs, and a regular at the Saturday morning parkruns in Poole Park.

John completed 62 parkruns in total, with 57 of these at Poole Park. His 5K PB was a mightily impressive 22:56. Many people half John's age would be delighted with this time. He was a great advert for sport, and running in particular, looking much younger than his 67 years.

Since John's passing, we have been raising money for Cancer Research - members of the team running with photos of John and the Cancer Research logo at various running events .

The highlight was the Poole parkrun where over 25 LV= staff and Westbourne Running Club members joined with John's family in recognition of John's love of parkrun, and as a celebration of his life, running  in the green and white club colours adorned with photos of John.
