Story
Hi! Well, I'm back! Just wanted to say a huge thankyou to everyone who supported me in my trek up Kilimanjaro and who helped me raise a fantastic sum for Round Table Children's Wish.
The trip certainly exceeded all expectations, and was by far the toughest physical, mental and emotional challenge I've ever taken on. I managed to get up to over 5,000 meters (just short of the summit) before being beaten by altitude sickness - although it's a little dissapointing not to have made it all the way to the top it's still a great achievement considering it was originally thought I may never be able to walk due to being born with problems with both my legs.
During the trek I earned huge respect for the local guides and porters who work 18 hours a day, seven days a week for just a couple of pounds a day - the fact that they always seemed to have a smile on their faces certainly helped put things into perspective..
Many thanks again for all your support - it's really helped to make a genuine difference to the lives of the young people that RTCW help.
With very best regards,
Jon
