Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A few years ago I was sat freezing cold on top of a hill (our water actually froze that year), clicking tallies of runner as they went past and thought, "They look warm and happy, I am doing that next year!". That was my introduction to the Fellsman, a 61 mile race across the Yorkshire Dales. The following year I entered, and pushed my self to the limit, but dropped out at mile 42. This year I have decided to push it harder and enter 2 ultra marathons in 3 weeks of each other.

1. Vale of Glamorgan Coastal Ultra - 32 miles [51km] > 10 hours - 7th April
2. The Fellsman - 61 miles [100km] ~ 26 hours - 28th

What a challenge as I really only started running last year. Then the decision of whether I get sponsored came into it. I didn't last year, but circumstances change and late last year Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team lost hundreds of thousands of pounds of equipment in a fire at their base  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-42374532

As a bit of background on CBMRT I have shamelessly ripped this from their own JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/centralbeaconsmrt

"We are a voluntary Search and Rescue service covering the Central Brecon Beacons and the South and Mid Wales area. A 999 24/7 service operating in all weather conditions to assist those injured/lost in mountain/rural/urban environments. We rely on donations for the £30,000/yearly running costs."

They do amazing work locally, not just finding people lost in the mountains, but doing lowland work, often looking for vulnerable people in a time of need. They are basically an amazing group of volunteers that get many people out of many rubbish situations.
