Story

Embarking on an journey through 2023, I've set out on an incredible mission: to run a marathon every single month, each one weaving a unique tale of exploration and endurance. Starting from the iconic Embankment War Memorial, my fellow enthusiasts and I are crafting 12 extraordinary marathon routes that showcase the diverse beauty of our county.

But this endeavor isn't just about clocking miles; it's a celebration of discovery and community. I invite fellow adventurers to join me on this odyssey, where the focus isn't on speed but on embracing the essence of each route. Together, we're uncovering the hidden gems and scenic wonders our fine county has to offer.

What makes this journey even more meaningful is that our efforts are channelled towards a noble cause. Every step we take, every mile we conquer, contributes to supporting the Friary in West Bridgford, making our runs more than just physical feats but acts of compassion and generosity.

Already, we've left our footprints across Nottnigham's landscapes. In January, we traced the path from the Embankment to Long Eaton Parkrun, and February led us toward Burton Joyce, crossing the majestic Gunthorpe Bridge. March took us through the charming villages of Radcliffe and Aslockton, marking our passage with determination. In April, as I welcomed my first child, the torch was carried forward by Russ and Millie, showcasing the spirit of teamwork.

May's marathon was a testament to resilience, where roads, hills, fields, and woods became our playground, proving that challenges are merely stepping stones to triumph. In July, we retraced our steps from Shelford to Gunthorpe Bridge, revisiting the memories we had etched on the path. August brought us a straight route to Aslockton and back, while September saw us harness the energy of the Robin Hood Half Marathon, fuelled by the cheers of the crowd propelling us forward.

As we continue this extraordinary marathon journey, I extend an open invitation for kindred spirits to join us. Together, let's explore, run, and make a difference, one marathon at a time. Who knows what wonders the next route holds? Join me, and let's find out together.
