So my final week is upon me here at the Donkeys. Sadly I have to go back up North for an appointment, otherwise I think I'd stay forever. 

The Flicka Foundation Donkey and Horse Sanctuary is a special place. Founded by Mary Berryman, 21 years ago, when she rescued a pony called Flicka.
From there over 600 animals have been rescued and given a home for
life, (some fostered out to suitable families.) Taken over by her
daughter Judy and business partner Laurie when Mary sadly passed,
they run a wonderful sanctuary, currently home to about 100 equines,
horses, ponies, mules, shetland ponies and of course my beloved
donkeys. All with less than a handful of employees and an amazing
team of volunteers.

So after 7 1/2 weeks, 38 full-time days
and endless hours scooping, sweeping, shifting straw and of course
snuggling, in rain, snow, blizzards and a little bit of sun, I'm
going home with a bigger heart and rock hard biceps!! I will be
back. No doubt about that.

Thanks for sponsoring me per week or day.  The money raised will go direct to buying hay and straw, dental appointments and vet fees, and helping raise the new barn.  There are no CEO's here  making 6 figures like other British donkey sanctuaries!!  But it does cost nearly 6 figures to feed and keep the animals healthy.  I guarantee every single penny (short the Just Giving fees) will go direct to providing for these amazing creatures!!
I have put a target of £2000 but in truth there is no upper target.    As much money as I can raise is needed.

Sadly there are fees here at Just Giving, but if you are British and you pay taxes you are eligible to apply Gift Aid which will increase your donation by 25%, and Just Giving do all the work in collecting that money from the government....so it's worth it for that!!
