Story
3hrs 26min 28sec, from crossing the start to crossing the finish.
I finished 4,818th out of 31,566 participants.
Apparently I was 2,119th out of 10,880 in my category (whatever that was!).
And so far we have raised nearly £10,000 - before Gift Aid (at least another £2,000) and any Employer matching contributions! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! It's a fantastic number.
What was it like?
Amazing, and really enjoyable! The weather was fantastic, Paris was beautiful, the organisers did an incredible job and the supporters were brilliant.
I didn't hit my target time of 3hrs 15min. I set off too fast (1hr 33min to the halfway stage) and really struggled between Km 30 and 40 (28min for 5km as opposed to < 22min for each 5km in the first 21k), but I threw all my remaining energy into the final 2km with something that felt like a sprint (it was really probably a hobble). I avoided the wine at 36km being handed out, but unfortunately I mistook the drink handed out at 38km for fruit juice - it was in fact cider as far as I could tell! I can of course now barely walk, and i am regretting not applying the two plasters handed out in the race pack as suggested prior to the race! But i'm sure I will live!
Thanks again to you all!
