I was a late addition to Llanelli Mind's Penyfan Mountain trip on 24 Sep 2019 and so I'm asking for donations for the centre after our successful ascent! Every penny counts so please give what you can to support this incredible place and the work it does in the community.

And we did it!

The forecast was for heavy showers and strong winds, but we braved the elements and completed the 6.7 mile ascent and descent. It's another world up there with sunshine, mist and rain rolling in one after another. We bonded over the stream crossing and every one of us reached the summit despite being drenched and tackling one of the steeper paths to the top. An amazing day with an amazing group of people.

In the words of our leader, 

"......I felt like we were doing military training, this group's determination had nothing on Bear Grylls, braver than we thought, never gave up, fought to the end and conquered.'

And another member summed it up,

"We literally had to jump over a river, climb up a cliff edge and battle the elements but we got to the top! So proud of everyone who took part. We did it! 💙"

Llanelli Mind has been Awarded
Most Compassionate Counselling Service – Carmarthenshire

The centre provides a unique service for those suffering mental distress in the Llanelli area. Despite having limited resources the team of experienced staff, volunteers and members there have big hearts and create a place of warmth, caring and non-judgement. I'm proud to be part of this community. 

I've been running groups at Llanelli Mind for 2.5 years, facilitating conversations about wellbeing, creativity, resilience and joy and it has been the most humbling and joyful work I have ever done. I have come across some of the most caring, fun, compassionate people I've ever encountered. I also volunteer with the Walk n Talk group and we set ourselves this challenge.
