Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those who know me well know that over the last three months I have been incredibly unwell due to my sickle cell. Indeed a lot of people have asked me why I intend to run this race when I am not even half way to recovery.
The answer is simple:
I believe in what I am doing - The SOS Gangs Project creates a viable opportunity for those involved in gang/ gun/ knife crime to make positive changes and to help others do the same.
In the three years since the project started we have worked with over 100 mid to high risk offenders. To date less than 10 have been recalled due to re-offending (compared to the national average of 75%).
I have seen young people involved in crimes such as street robbery, drug dealing, and violent offences start working, go back to college, become responsible parents, and equally take responsibilty for their actions.
Last year so many young people died on the streets of london in violent ways it is unbelieveable. equally the cost of re-offending costs society billions.
My project starts in prison and the community, works hollistically with support agencies, tackles all the underlying issues and costs a fraction of the amount re-offending costs society.
However funding for the project is always short and we need your support. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
