Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In April 2019 myself, Gill Creed, Terry Creed, Tanya Pitt and John Higgs will be running The London Marathon, fundraising for the National Autistic Society. This charity is very close to my heart, as our son was diagnosed with Autism aged four.
Autistic people share certain difficulties but being autistic will affect each of them differently. It is a life long condition that effects daily life with how you perceive the world and interact with others. People with Autism see, hear and feel the world differently, and struggle with social communication, social interaction and imagination.
Autism affects not just the individual, but a whole family. Things that many families take for granted like visiting places such as play parks and zoos, holidays or even popping into town for milk can be extremely overwhelming for someone on the spectrum. Families with siblings often find themselves torn between a child wanting to experience all the things life has to offer and a child that would be so overwhelmed and anxious, unable cope.
The National Autistic Society offers support and information for families, individuals, and schools.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and helping raise awareness and understanding.
We appreciate all donations received, so our sincere thanks.
