Story

We are delighted to report that our sponsored walk for Dorothy House at Westonbirt Arboretum today 17 April 2011 has been successfully completed! We walked 5 miles around the arboretum sporting Glynne's favourite colour "blue" and a poster with a picture of her and her name to show who we were walking for.

The sun was shining, the birds were singing and we couldn't have been any luckier with the weather! It was neither cold nor too hot and it made for a very pleasant walk.  The scenery was stunning, with the trees blossoming so it was a real pleasure for the eye.

There were about 100 participants, the event was well organized and took place in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

By the end of it, we were quite tired, feet, hips and knees aching but thrilled to have done it and to have been able to raise such a substantial amount of money for Dorothy House.  One of their representatives, Yvonne, who was at the event, was very impressed by the money we'd raised all thanks to you and said how grateful she was on behalf of Dorothy House.

Thank you so much again for your moral and financial support in this! We are deeply touched and thankful to you all!

With love,

Karine & Tim

On 14 December 2009, I lost a very good friend called Glynne Townshend; she was a great animal lover, a very intelligent and sensitive lady with a cracking sense of humour, a talented craft artist and a brilliant friend! She was only 60 years old when she tragically passed away after a 4 year battle against cervical cancer.  Her death has been a terrible blow to her family and friends and we all miss her greatly.

On 17 April 2011, my husband Tim and myself will be taking part in a sponsored walk at Westonbirt Arboretum in memory of this wonderful lady and to help raise funds for Dorothy House Hospice Care who gave such good care to our friend during her illness and right till her death.  All the staff there was so compassionate and dedicated and provided invaluable help, not only to her but to her family and friends with practical assistance, sensible advice and moral support.  We are so grateful to them and would like to be able to help the hospice give the same care to other patients and their families, providing much needed palliative treatment, counselling, compassion, friendship, humour and warmth to people with terminal illnesses!

It is our very first sponsored event and we would be so grateful if you could please help us meet our targe for this wonderful cause.

Thank you so much in advance!

Karine & Tim
