Story
Microtia (Greek for ‘little ear’) is a malformation or misshape of the external part of the ear (pinna) and can vary in severity from the ear being smaller than expected to varying degrees of absence of the outer ear.
When our second son was born with Microtia it completely threw us off the balance. It took lot of self research and consultation with NHS UK before we were sufficiently informed to understand the issue and help our son. Eventually connecting with the "Microtia UK charity" increased our awareness and put us in touch with other parents who are dealing with this in order to learn from their experiences.
This charity needs funding and help to increase the awareness about Microtia across our communities and schools so that affected children can be supported in an appropriate manner, whether it is making the right provisions for them in the schools or helping them by not becoming target of bullying. We were lucky to have the courage and means to understand this issue ourselves but there are a lot of parents and children who cannot do this or have the ways and means to deal with this condition.
This is why I am deeply motivated to raise funds for this charity.
