Story
On 21st September I and nearly 50 of my colleagues at MOO will be completing the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge for charity.
While this challenge is right up my street, the 24 mile route involves scaling 3 peaks (surprise!) with 1585m of ascent, as yet unknown weather, and potentially having to make conversation for 12 hours while being very unfit - i.e. by no means a walk in the park.
I'm walking in aid of FORWARD (Foundation for Women's Health Research and Development). FORWARD does great work that is so vital for promoting gender equality and safeguarding the rights and health of African girls and women globally. It is focused on 3 key issues: Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Child Marriage and Obstetric Fistula.
I have been particularly horrified learning about the use and enforcement of child FGM in some communities and the resulting physical and mental trauma. FORWARD works in the UK, Europe and Africa to safeguard girls at risk of FGM and support women affected.
More information on each of the key issues are and the work FORWARD does can be found here: http://forwarduk.org.uk/key-issues/.
Any contribution you can make will be much appreciated!
