Story

3 weeks - just 21 days left and we'll have crossed the finish line in Paris. if you haven't sponsored me yet you're in luck - there's still time. #cyclingtobeatbloodcancer

3 Weeks - just 21 days left and we'll have finished in Paris. So excited! For anybody who hasn't you're in luck because you still have time to sponsor me!

Countdown begins....in 4 weeks today it'll be over. That's just 28 days!!! I'm over the moon to have reached target - but let's not stop there peeps! Imagine the research and patient support your donation would help fund. Also - KIT'S ARRIVED!!

For the past 2 years my colleagues have participated in the Bloodwise London to Paris bike ride....and have returned not only having raised pots of cash for this great cause, but also having met some amazing inspirational people!  I thought that this year could be my year.

Chris' sister was diagnosed with a form of blood cancer - Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and underwent a stem cell transplant in Jan 14.  Bloodwise is a charity that researches, campaigns and raises money all to help beat blood cancers.  They also support patients and those affected by blood cancer through the Bloodwise community.  Without the work they do the 30,000 people diagnosed each year in the UK wouldn't be able to receive such amazing treatment and care.

There are three main types of blood cancer:

  • leukaemia
  • lymphoma
  • myeloma

The impact from research and investment made by Bloodwise is plain to see.  Survival rates and quality of life have improved.  Today, two-thirds of everyone diagnosed with blood cancer will still be with us in five years’ time. In 1960, almost everyone died of their disease eventually.

Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is the most common childhood cancer. One child a day is diagnosed with ALL in the UK – that’s one family turned upside down every 24 hours.

My Grandfather had Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia when he died.  Please help me contribute to this amazing work.

Thanks for reading.
